We are open to this role being based in either of the above locations as remote working is involved, however, when we return to our normal ways of working occasional travel to Edinburgh will be required.

In a nutshell

This role sits within the Operational Risk & Resilience function that provides support to first line business areas on risk and control management. Process Control Assurance provides independent assurance on internal and supplier controls to business areas across the Bank, including Argos Financial Services (AFS). As a Control Assurance Analyst, you will carry out independent assessments, using various assurance methods, on the effectiveness of the internal control environment. You will also support the Internal Control Assurance Team in the development and maintenance of the assurance framework.

Some limited domestic travel may be involved in this role .

What you'll be doing
  • Support the development, maintenance and contiunous improvement of the control assurance framework, test plans and test scrips, taking into account Process Risk and Control Assessments (PRCA) and emergin themes/trends/threats.
  • Support the Internal Control Assurance team by drafting control sample tests and undertaking key control testing across the Bank, in line with the Bank's methodology, approach and Quality Assurance standards, ensuring risks are being managed effectively.
  • Prepare and produce accurate test scripts on findings from individual assurance reviews and engage positively with risk and business stakeholders to support the development of appropriate action plans to address any process / control weaknesses identified through testing.
  • Manage own workload to ensure deadlines are met and critical requests are prioritised.
  • Share knowledge and ideas with colleagues within the Internal Control Assurance team and wider Risk team, exchanging information and supporting the identification of best practice.
  • Assist more senior colleagues to ensure that all work within the area is completed accurately and adheres to internal Bank policies, standards, procedures and relevant external regulations and guidance.

What you need to know and show
  • Good understanding of the financial services industry, Retail Banking & Insurance products and Telephony service channel.
  • Good understanding of financial services regulations conduct risk requirements and the elements of a risk management framework.
  • Strong advocacy for delivering fair customer outcomes.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent team player with ability to work closely with others to deliver results.
  • Ability to manage own workload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good written communication via Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
