A Hotel Accountant provides financial, commercial, and business input into the management of hotel operations through review and recommendations of financial reports.

What will I be doing?

As a Hotel Accountant, you will provide financial, commercial, and business input into the management of hotel operations, ensuring that financial standards are achieved throughout the hotel and that hotel performance is optimized. Specifically, a Hotel Accountant will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Assists in overseeing the operations and ensures all procedures and documentation are in order for the General Ledger, Payroll, Income Audit, Payable, Receivable, General Cashier and Cost Control
  • Provides a timely and responsive service to both internal and external customers
  • Ensure all financial regulations are met, through the maintenance of adequate systems of internal control
  • Assist in the liaison and has active involvement with internal and external audits
  • Performs data analysis, identifies trends and reports on any variances or issues to the Director of Finance.
  • Actively pursue the implementation of best practices or control procedures and resolves any inherent issues in a timely manner.
  • Prepare capital reviews as required by the Director of Finance
  • Training and development of local Finance staff and ensure accurate succession planning
  • Assists to coordinate and manage the month end closing process including ensuring the completeness.
  • Maintaining an up to date and complete register of ALL hotel contracts, insurance policies and licenses including ensuring proper filing of original documents are kept in the Director of Finance NT's custody. Ensures that contract expenditure is correctly accounted for in the books.
  • Assists the Director of Finance NT and the Finance Manager NT in all internal and external audit related matters for Hilton and DoubleTree hotels in Northern Territory, its related entities and regional offices.
  • Performs any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director of Finance NT or Finance Manager NT from time to time.
