Job Description

Director of Finance and Accounting

This position reports directly to the CEO and has the following responsibilities:


To ensure the accuracy and completeness of the company's financial statements and full compliance with all laws and regulations in all jurisdictions in which we do business.


To support the CEO in ensuring the development and execution of strategies (organic and acquisitive) to create incremental new shareholder value, year-over-year.


To provide effective day-to-day oversight of the company's financial, accounting, treasury management, tax, investor relations, business development, and human resource operations.


To challenge and contribute constructively to decision making, using the skills and experience they possess and those generally expected of an office with a specialty in finance.


To exercise independent judgment, reasonable care, skill, and diligence when carrying out their duties.

Essential Functions:

(1)
Accounting and Financial Reporting.

Provide complete month-end and year-end close financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flow), cash account reconciliations, and G/L analysis.

Develop the company's annual operating budget and plan for consideration by the BOD and deliver the agreed operating plan and budget as approved by the BOD. Works with the operations team to ensure budget compliance and achievement.

Provide financial leadership with acquisitions and business development to include integration, onboarding, and conversion of accounting systems, and direct balance sheet adjustments through purchase accounting.

Develop and implement acquisition and business development financial models and monitor performance against plan, post-transaction.

Maintain an ongoing dialogue with the company's external auditor, senior and subordinate lenders, and insurance brokers.

Ensure that the company operates sound risk management and internal control systems to safeguard stakeholders' interests, the company's assets, and to ensure the integrity of the company's financial performance and statements.

Provide strong functional leadership to the company's accounting, finance, tax, treasury, and investor relations operations, communicating to those groups the expectations of the BOD in relation to the company's objectives, culture, values, attitudes, and behaviors, and ensuring that operational policies and practices help drive those appropriately.

Management and BOD Analytics and Communications.

Support the CEO and BOD in providing accurate, timely, balanced, and clear financial and other relevant KPIs and information in a form and of a quality that will enable the CEO and the BOD to discharge their duties effectively.

Provide on-going financial analysis and modeling to a range of company leaders in support of key business decisions.

Alert executive members of any sudden and significant changes to operating trends, budgets, and forecasting.

Regularly analyze organizational operations, identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancements.

Human Resource Administration.

In cooperation with the company's outsourced HR resource-Marathon-manage the administrative aspects of the company's human resource function, including:

Payroll

Benefits administration
o
401(k)
o
Insurance

(4)
Treasury Management.

Manage day-to-day activities in treasury functions to meet the financial obligations of the company.

Perform treasury activities related to cash flow, borrowings, debt, acquisition financing, and capital management.

Manage the company's cash balance, accounts receivable, accounts payable and inventory.

Monitor and manage the company's bank relationships.

Other.

Maintain good working relationships with other officers within the company, especially with business development and operations, and to provide constructive challenge to them considering his/her responsibilities as an officer of the company.

Build and scale finance and accounting department and provide leadership, management, and direction to the team.

Requirements

Experience:

Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited college or university in finance or accounting.

CPA (active or inactive) a plus

Minimum eight (8) years of experience, with four (4) years of supervisory capacity
