This role reports to the Group Consolidation Manager, together providing high quality consolidated monthly internal and external financial reporting, working closely with key stakeholders across segments, treasury, tax and financial planning and analysis teams. The role provides a mix of exposure to monthly reporting and half-yearly/yearly external reporting.

The role is primarily a mix of consolidation accounting and external reporting at half-year and year-end. You will be working closely with the Group Consolidation Manager as part of month-end to monitor and improve segment consolidation processes to improve consistency, timeliness and accuracy of segment results consolidation. Your role will also include preparing monthly equity accounting entries for the Group's associates and joint ventures and reviewing the information submitting by segments. In addition, you will prepare key Group balance sheet reconciliations and elimination journals.

This role also supports the Group Consolidation Manager in identifying and resolving system and intercompany variances to ensure the smooth delivery of the Group's monthly statutory P&L, Balance Sheet and cash-flow information to the relevant stakeholders across the Group.

This role also supports the External Reporting team in planning and delivering the Group's external financial reporting requirements at half-year and year-end. This includes the deed of cross guarantee, parent and subsidiary reporting.

You'll have:
  • A good understanding of and experience in working with Hyperion Financial Reporting/MFR is beneficial, but not required - this can be learned on the job.
  • Experience in financial reporting and good knowledge of accounting standards
  • A strong desire to develop and become an expert in complex systems consolidations and its impact on external reporting
  • The ability to grasp complex issues and communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • The ability to work within deadlines with a high degree of flexibility and engage other employees to provide data as required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, a high level of business acumen and understanding of business drivers
  • The ability to communicate effectively both written and oral. A strong analytical mindset with an eye for detail, whilst still being able to see the longer strategic vision for the group
  • The right to live and work in Australia, a degree in a business-related discipline, with specific finance and accounting emphasis and CA qualified
