Newcastle Private is a 189 inpatient acute facility. With 10 operating theatres and two angiography laboratories, Newcastle Private provides a large range of medical and surgical services as well as critical care, rehabilitation, oncology and maternity services.

Hunter Valley Private Hospital is located 8km away and provides a range of surgical and medical services including rehabilitation, palliative care and pain management.

Together, Newcastle Private Hospital and Hunter Valley Private Hospital share the same focus on providing world class quality healthcare to our patients, right here in the Hunter region.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accountant seeking to join our dynamic team across our two sites. This role requires excellent financial and management accounting competence, strong teamwork and organisational skills, as well as competence in the delivery of delegated care/service.

Essential Criteria:

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting
• Extensive software application and data manipulation and analysis experience
• Experience in the use of with Accounting Systems including General Ledger, Accounts Payable etc.
• Excellent financial and management accounting competence
• Knowledge of budget management and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Experience in healthcare
• Demonstrated knowledge / ability to analyse complex financial/resource information to develop options to maximise financial outcomes
• Demonstrated knowledge / experience in preparation of financial journals and reports
• Experience in the use of Microsoft Office products
• Experience in the use of Accounting Systems including General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Stores etc.
• View to or studying towards CPA or ACA qualifications (desirable)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated professional / positive approach
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to prioritise work effectively
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
