The opportunity

An exciting new opportunity now exists for a Fixed Assets Accountant within Transport Shared Services- Finance & Procurement team in our Corporate Services division. This is a Permanent full time opportunity, based in Burwood however with the current COVID environment the incumbent of the role will have the option of working from home.

As the Fixed Assets Accountant you will be responsible for delivering a high standard of Fixed Assets Accounting services to multiple operating agencies. You will proactively collaborate with and assist key stakeholders in the development and delivery of effective fixed assets accounting policies, standards and practices to ensure that the fixed assets accounting services meet the organisational, government and legislative requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be capable of working in a dynamic environment including the ability to reprioritise workloads, solve problems & execute to meet outcomes, and manage and communicate effectively with all stakeholders in providing Fixed Asset Accounting services.

Essential Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications (Accounting, Commerce or related discipline) or demonstrated equivalent experience, and full (or working towards) membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing fixed asset accounting services in a large and complex organisation with high transaction volume.
  • Experience with and sound understanding of relevant legislation, accounting standards, regulations and commercial accounting practices relating to government organisations.
  • Sound organisational skills including the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to investigate and resolve fixed asset accounting and reporting issues in a systemic way, driving continuous improvement outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal/external stakeholders and resolve queries with regards to fixed asset reporting requirements.
  • Advanced ability to communicate clearly, concisely and appropriately both orally and in writing


Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Transport Grade 7 ($103,965 to $116,441) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
