Reporting to the Finance Manager we are seeking a full-time Accountant who will be responsible for managing and reporting financial information and matters pertaining to the efficient operation of The Australian Ballet School and its related activities. The various tasks encompassed in this accountancy role form part of the responsibilities of a non-for-profit tertiary arts/education organisation.

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per annum plus superannuation.

A relevant Bachelor Degree in Accountancy or higher qualification plus two years of full-time post qualification experience in the position.


Assist in the provision of a range of financial services;

Examining bank statement and reconciling them with the general ledger entries;

Examining expenses submitted by employees;

Keeping an eye on incoming payments from accounts receivable and outgoing payments from accounts payable;

Creating company financial reports with the above information included;

Generating financial reports;

Action the timely and accurate completion of budgets, reconciliations, financial reports; this may include unpaid invoices, accruals, prepayments and invoice payments and verifications.

Validation and processing invoices received from contractors and stakeholders to ensure payment is made within the agreed terms and or in a timely manner;

Managing student fee invoices;

Monitoring and triage accounts, including student fees;

Undertake analysis of complex data;Managing the financial module of database system;

Provide systems administration and prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and briefing materials as required;

Collating, checking and analysing spreadsheet data;

Communicating with a variety of stakeholders;

The ability to work comfortably in a team environment, who is a self-starter with attention to detail;

Prior experience with Debtors and Creditors Management preferred;

Proficiency with computers and software packages (database systems Synergetic and Paradigm preferred);

Flexibility to adapt to changing operating environments;

Ability to learn processes, procedures and systems quickly;

Advanced MSOffice skills essential (Word & Excel);

Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
