Assistant Financial Accountant

Role Summary

This position functions as an integral member of the UK AIS team and provides excellent administrative support for the regional and London based sales team.

The position reports to the Business Development Manager in London. As a member of the UK AIS team the associate will be expected to show strong administrative and organisational skills, assist team members when necessary and provide coverage in the absence of other team members.

The associate may be required to liaise with clients and answer telephone calls or emails on behalf of the team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this position.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by our organizations Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct across the business
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance
  • Assist with preparation of our half yearly EMEA regulatory capital returns which include 2 U.K. and 1 Irish entity as well as Consolidated Supervision for our U.K. group.
  • Assisting with the monthly regulatory capital monitoring for all EMEA entities.
  • Assist with preparation of all EMEA corporation tax returns (3 x U.K., 1 x Irish, 3 x European branch) as well as assisting with the Quarterly Instalment payments.
  • Assist with the preparation of our U.K. Group VAT return (partially exempt special method)
  • Provide support during the interim and final audit process by responding to queries raised by our external statutory auditors
  • Provide support to our Rebate Accountant during the quarterly rebate payment cycle
  • Assist with monthly General Ledger accounting including checking branch payroll journals, Blackline balance sheet reconciliations, coordinating monthly journals from our French legal entity.
  • Providing support for our daily bank reconciliations and daily cash journal entries


The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

  • Part qualified or qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA or ACA)
  • Relevant BSC/BA (Mathematics / Economics or similar) or equivalent experience
  • Theoretical understanding of current accounting practice including accounts preparation.
  • Theoretical understanding of U.K Corporation Tax computations.
  • Understanding of preparing and submitting FCA returns for Investment Management firms through GABRIEL.
  • Theoretical understanding of preparing quarterly U.K. VAT returns
  • Prior experience gained from working within a Finance Department and being responsible for duties as described above or similar experience gained through a role in Financial Services. Experience gained through auditing in the Financial Services sector would be preferable
