The Assistant Accountant is the entry level position in the Accountants job family. They operate at a country level, taking their guidance from the Financial Accountant and dealing with low complexity accounts.

Their primary objective is to assist with the management, reconciliation and collection of outstanding amounts from clients, prepare financial reports, process journal entries, process the accounting month end, prepare balance sheet reconciliations and provide assistance for the accounts payable function.

Manage accounts receivable function
The Assistant Accountant assists with the management of the accounts receivable function within the business unit. They perform credit vetting on new and existing client accounts and ensure that new accounts are opened in line with financial procedures. They ensure that outstanding amounts are collected and resolve all client and vendor related queries, escalating more complex queries to the Accountant or Financial Accountant.

Perform accounting functions
The Assistant Accountant assists with the processing of month-end activities which includes the preparation and processing of month-end journal entries, processing loan and bank account entries and reconciling these accounts and executing a variety of actions in the accounting system. They produce balance sheet reconciliations and ensure that these are authorised. They analyse, review and control intercompany loans, fixed deposits and journals. They assist with the implementation, control and monitoring of periodic compliance testing. These individuals contribute to the optimum use of systems to facilitate an efficient accounting process.

Administer cash management
These individuals perform cash management and produce the bank reconciliations for company bank accounts and process all the necessary bank account entries required. They manage cash deposits are responsible for month end reconciliations.

Produce financial reports
Assistant Accountants take responsibility for the preparation of all month end and relevant reporting.

Manage tax processes
The Assistant Accountant assists with the proactive management of and ensure tax compliance including determining and manage sales tax compliance.

Behavioural skills
The Assistant Accountant displays good planning and organising ability and demonstrates good attention to detail. They have the ability to self-manage and are deadline driven individuals who contribute to the success of the team.

Required Work Experience:
1 - 2 years' working experience,
At least 1 year working experience in a related field
