Two Birds is a professional services practice that offers business advisory services. Our clients require a professional accountant to engage with them on a monthly ongoing basis advising them on the performance of their business and providing detailed analysis and recommendations to ensure that their business continues to grow and achieves its financial goals.

We are offering $66,000 + super to a full time Accountant with at least 2 years of highly relevant experience and suitably qualified. The successful candidate will join a growing Australian professional financial management services practice that specialises in servicing Architects, Interior Designers, Creative Professionals and Start-ups. You will report directly to the Finance Director and be responsible for managing your own clients including managing and reviewing the bookkeepers work.

Main Duties of the Role:

Reporting to the Finance Director, the main duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Preparing end of month financial reports for board meetings and key stakeholders.
  • Preparing of BAS/IAS returns and lodgement, includes calculation of PAYG Income Tax Payable.
  • Preparation of monthly payroll tax figures, annual PAYG summaries, and STP filing.
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets & forecasts monthly.
  • Preparing and monitoring cashflows and forecasts monthly.
  • Preparing Financial Statements including Depreciation Schedules monthly.
  • Project Accounting: Produce monthly job cost reports, calculate fees/costs per hour, produce staff utilization reports as per company guidelines.
  • Preparing job cost reports for invoicing as requested by client and raising sales invoices.
  • Prepare workflow reports as required.
  • Assist external tax agents with preparation of end of financial year returns
    Manage and review bookkeepers work includes Bank Reconciliations, Processing Payrolls, and Entering of Accounts Payable.
  • Assist and advise with the ongoing review and implementation of appropriate accounting systems, and project accounting software systems for new and existing clients.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications, education, experience, and abilities required:
  • A minimum of relevant Bachelor qualification
  • Highly proficient in Xero, MYOB, MS Outlook
  • At least 2 years' experience as an Accountant (required)
  • Experience in private practice accounting (preferred)
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and desire to grow and develop your career
  • Experience with project accounting software like Workflow Max, advantageous
