About the North Sydney based Role:

We are looking for a full-time Senior Accountant- Business Service &Tax with experience in Australian Accounting Practices, dealing with small business clients, individual tax returns and associated companies, with a focus on compliance and beyond.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Accounting:
  • Preparation of financial statements and tax returns for all entities including sole traders, partnerships, trusts, companies and SMSFs with minimal supervision.
  • Preparation of BAS/IAS returns, FBT returns, PAYG Summary reports, PAYG withholding variation application for all entities.
  • Preparation of clear and concise work papers.
  • Liaise with the Australian Taxation Office on behalf of clients.
  • Assist with complex tax and accounting advice.
  • Build client relationships and develop an understanding of the client's business to recognise potential issues or business opportunities.
Technical/professional:
  • Assist with the technical and professional development of others within the team.
  • Make responsible decisions on procedural matters including the establishment of professional standards and processes.
  • Consult, recommend and advise in specialty areas.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Undergraduate qualifications (essential) and Postgraduate qualifications (or working towards this) majoring in Accounting
  • 3+ years experience in Public Practice and in Business Services
  • Excellent client and interpersonal communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills - including spreadsheet skills and report writing
  • Highly Competent in Xero and MYOB
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting standards, best practice and demonstrated ability to meet tight time frames
  • Strong team mentality and ability to work closely with peers
  • Strong attention to detail
KPI:
  • Charged time of at least 1,440 hours per annum (net of write-offs).
  • Write-offs no more than 15% of charged time
  • WIP no more than 20 days.
