In a nutshell

A key member of the Property and Cost Transformation team with primary responsibility for providing the business with high quality financial insight on the delivery of in year and future year cost reductions including regular performance analysis, Latest Views, Budgets, and the 5 year Corporate Plan. In addition, this role will provide ad hoc analysis for the Head Property and Cost Transformation, Commercial & Retail Finance Director and Cost Transformation Director.

What you need to do

Manage the financial performance of the cost reduction programme through the following activities:

Develop and maintain a cost reduction tracking solution which will provide visibility of cost reduction across the Retail P&L

Ensure consistent treatment of cost reduction tracking across the Finance teams in order to deliver a consolidated view of the total retail cost reduction

Provide a consolidated narrative of cost reduction and cost increases across the retail business

Ensure accuracy of financials contained within the PMO tool

Connecting costs across functions and understand the drivers to help develop programmes that will deliver sustainable structural cost reduction

Business partnering the Cost Reduction Support Team (CRST):

Responsible for managing the relationship between the PMO and Finance

Where applicable, lead the financial performance of end-to-end cost reduction programmes which are led by the CRST, working closely with relevant Finance Business partners to develop robust business cases which lead to material cost reductions across the retail P&L

Manage business cases for end-to-end programmes to ensure that projects deliver profitable returns

Perform a high standard of ad hoc analysis supporting the Cost Transformation Senior Finance Manager, Head of Property and Cost Transformation, Commercial & Retail Finance Director and Cost Transformation Director

Provide organisation-wide training and advisory support to divisional Finance business partners on cost saving including engaging teams on forecasting and reporting

Represent finance in appropriate forums providing financial support for business decision making ensuring that the financial implications are fully understood. This will include:

Bi-weekly workstream updates acting as the Finance gate keeper, providing financial analysis of workstream performance against agreed targets

Providing reporting to the Head of Property and Cost Transformation and Commercial and Retail Finance director to enable the Business Performance Review update

Produce executive summaries for the cost reduction programme and operating cost base performance, ensuring the message aligns to FP&A narrative

Responsible for managing relationships with relevant stakeholders such as liaising with Finance teams and Financial, Planning and Analysis team ensuring reporting is delivered to required timelines and expected standards

Support the Finance set plays for the cost reduction programme including end-to-end projects where applicable ensuring all relevant stakeholders are engaged

Lead, develop and motivate members of the team to high performance through great coaching and communication, review of work, suggesting areas for improvement and sharing expertise

Deputise for the Cost Transformation Finance Manager as required

What you need to know and show

Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)

Post-qualification experience in a similar financial planning/partnering role (Retail industry a distinct advantage)

Effective communicator with senior stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen

Self-motivated team player, able to work autonomously

Ability to prioritise

Strong commercial acumen with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance

Experience of maintaining strong financial controls

Committed to driving change

High level of drive and enthusiasm

Ability to work under pressure - providing accurate high quality work under tight deadlines

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Strong analytical skills - ability to focus on the key issues

Strategic perspective - understanding of the wider issues impacting corporate performance

Advanced excel modelling skills

What decisions I can make including budget

Support with day to day coaching and supervision of the Finance Analyst

Deputise for the Senior Finance Manager as and when required

Day-to-day prioritisation of workload

Directly or indirectly manages

Indirectly supports in the management of one C4 colleague as required
