Descriptions

KPMG Malaysia Risk Management Department (RMD), with its focus to:

  • Assists the Firm’s Risk Management Partner and Ethics & Independence Partner in implementing and facilitating compliance with KPMG policies and procedures, applicable laws, regulations and professional standards
  • Liaise with all parts of the business as necessary on compliance obligations and issues impacting KPMG Malaysia to ensure consistency in approach and commitment to compliance across KPMG Malaysia
  • Facilitates the ongoing development and review of risk management initiatives to assist KPMG Malaysia’s effort in improving its quality, risk and compliance initiative

Responsibilities

Your roles and responsibilities include:

  • Review and provide input to the contract terms based on KPMG risk management policies and applicable laws
  • Be a resource for others on applicable law, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Engage with professional services team, external client or external legal counsel where required in contract review
  • Initiate, plan and implement related Risk Management policies and procedures in conjunction with Risk Management Department’s overall goals and objective. This includes assisting to initiate timely implementation of related policies and procedures impacting contracting procedure and compliance with laws and regulations to meet the fast-changing business needs. The expected outcome includes standard legal terms, document templates, guidance and procedures
  • Provide on-going observation and feedback to Risk Management team on the effectiveness and compliance of the related policies and procedures
  • Assist Contracting team to develop relevant action plans on improvement points
  • Assist in timely status update and reporting to Head of Department and Risk Management Partner
  • Assist in internal risk management awareness development plans impacting contracting and legal compliance in conjunction with KPMG Malaysia Risk Management’s goals and objectives
  • Handle briefing and guidance (including face-to-face briefing/training) on related risk management areas from time to time to stakeholders across functions and levels
  • Assist in the development and management of internal knowledge management databases for contracting and legal, including the use of intranet and software applications

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’ s degree in Law or relevant discipline from a recognized university
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ relevant working experience in the areas of law, legal and compliance, contracting, corporate conveyancing or litigation
  • Strong inter-personal skills, has high self-initiative, resourceful, attentive to detail, commitment to working as a team to achieve overall goals and objective
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft applications
  • Has high self-initiative, resourceful, strong analytical skills, attentive to detail and an excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Able to handle communication that demonstrates high professionalism with all levels including management level and external parties
  • Candidates should be comfortable as a self-starter with the ability to work independently and conduct hands-on review of legal and policy documentation
  • The ability to maintain and ensure confidentiality is critical
  • Eager to learn and seek knowledge in order to highlight shortcomings and recommend possible improvements to the existing approach
  • Highly adaptable to changing circumstances and environment and able to work under tight deadlines if necessary
  • Manage training, briefing or discussion on related topics with audience from management to external parties
