The position reports to the Head of Corporate & Digital Strategy, working closely with senior management and leadership teams across various business, corporate and/or digital strategy efforts

  • Assist senior management on a broad range of activities including strategy formulation, strategic plan creation and monitoring, board communication and offsite retreat planning
  • Research & analyze industry and competitive trends, business performance and internal investment opportunities
  • Research & analyze global digital trends, including identifying industry impact and competitor / peer response
  • Drive and support the execution of key strategic and digital initiatives, ensuring the achievement of the firm’s top priorities
  • Perform competitive tracking & analysis, including emerging industry and digital trends, benchmarking competitor performance business unit results and informing Northern Trust strategy
  • Communicate directly with different committees and/or senior management
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and ability to think strategically and analytically
  • Experience in and/or passion for digital themes and technologies, e.g., human centered design, artificial intelligence, data & analytics, cloud, agile ways of working
  • Outstanding ability to apply various approaches to assess and develop recommendations, communicating effectively (both oral and written) to senior management
  • Proven project management capabilities and ability to initiate projects and monitor through completion with minimal guidance
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with ability to interact with colleagues at all levels in a peer-like way, achieving goals without direct control over resources
  • Exceptional work ethic and leadership skills with the confidence to work alongside senior management
  • Excellent Powerpoint presentation and Excel modeling skills required
  • 2-6 years’ experience with 1-2 years of strategy experience with a top-tier strategy consulting firm or in an operating company’s strategy function; working knowledge of the Financial Services industry preferred
  • Bachelor degree required, and advanced degree and/or related industry qualification (e.g., MBA) preferred
