The opportunity:
In this role you will form an integral part of the HQ Finance Team responsible for preparing accurate & timely monthly management accounts. You will assist in the preparation of annual audited accounts by ensuring that all day-to-day processes are carried out efficiently & effectively and in the provision of other management information as requested.
How you will impact WestRock:
- Oversee, underwrite and ensure the timely preparation of all financial information – both internal and external
- Execute general accounting activities, including the preparation of monthly management accounts, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedule
- Prepares records, analyses and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles
- Provide financial support to department heads, including forecasting, and analysing variations from forecast
- Lead or assist in the documentation of accounting projects
- Follow established procedures and guidelines to accurately maintain the organisation's financial records and transactions
- Complete assigned daily ledger entries and other financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles so that the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date
- Ensure that internal controls are complete, robust and effective in order to safeguard company assets and are fully aligned to the SOX framework
- Collect and compile simple financial information and assist senior accountants to prepare accurate and timely financial reports and accounting statements for senior management
What you need to succeed:
- A degree or equivalent work experience
- Qualified AAT/ACCA/CIMA/ACA
- People management experience
- Proficient in MS Packages including advanced Excel skills
- Previous experience in monthly account preparation to trail balance
- Excellent analytical, numeracy, organizational and communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Demonstrable evidence of information handling ability and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
- Use of SAGE ledgers (Desirable)
