The opportunity:

In this role you will form an integral part of the HQ Finance Team responsible for preparing accurate & timely monthly management accounts.  You will assist in the preparation of annual audited accounts by ensuring that all day-to-day processes are carried out efficiently & effectively and in the provision of other management information as requested.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Oversee, underwrite and ensure the timely preparation of all financial information – both internal and external
  • Execute general accounting activities, including the preparation of monthly management accounts, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedule
  • Prepares records, analyses and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles
  • Provide financial support to department heads, including forecasting, and analysing variations from forecast
  • Lead or assist in the documentation of accounting projects
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines to accurately maintain the organisation's financial records and transactions
  • Complete assigned daily ledger entries and other financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles so that the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date
  • Ensure that internal controls are complete, robust and effective in order to safeguard company assets and are fully aligned to the SOX framework
  • Collect and compile simple financial information and assist senior accountants to prepare accurate and timely financial reports and accounting statements for senior management

What you need to succeed:

  •  A degree or equivalent work experience
  •  Qualified AAT/ACCA/CIMA/ACA
  •  People management experience
  •  Proficient in MS Packages including advanced Excel skills
  •  Previous experience in monthly account preparation to trail balance
  •  Excellent analytical, numeracy, organizational and communication skills
  •  High attention to detail
  •  Demonstrable evidence of information handling ability and problem-solving skills
  •  Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
  •  Use of SAGE ledgers (Desirable)
