EMEA Internal Audit Office (EIAO), as the Bank's third Line of Defence, and in accordance with the Global Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Standards (IIA Standards), provides independent assurance to the Board and Executive Management on the quality and effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls to monitor manage and mitigate key risks to achieving the Bank's objectives.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
  • The Global Markets and EMEA Region Business Manager is a Director level role within EMEA Internal Audit (IA) with responsibility for ensuring that Global Markets IA adheres to IA methodology and industry best practices and acting as a key co-ordinator for wider EMEA Internal Audit initiatives.
  • Working closely with the Global Head of Global Markets audit and the EMEA Chief Auditor, this position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the development of people, process, and tools required ensuring adequate audit coverage on the key risks of the Global Markets business from a front-to-back perspective, as well as, facilitating and collaborating regionally to align with regional audit requirements and practices.
  • Given the complexity and global nature of the Markets business (in particular for Securities International), this is a key role to help ensure that the audit plans across EMEA and other International locations are co-ordinated, with plan progress and audit results reported to relevant governance fora (in particular the MUS(EMEA) Audit Committee) and key inter-regional dependencies are communicated to the Chief Auditor, EMEA.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the Global Head of Global Markets audit to develop and implement a multi-year strategy for implementing a well-qualified and fully effective audit function that adheres to the Global Audit Methodology and aligns to regional requirements.
  • Strategise, implement and oversee processes for increased productivity and design daily operational programmes that produce organisational objectives.
  • Develop and implement management oversight required to ensure the quality and efficiency of internal audits conducted.
  • Liaise with the IA Professional Practices Team to coordinate the annual planning project plan, facilitate annual planning kickoff, facilitate meetings to update the Global Markets audit universe, and oversee Global Markets audit plan updates.
  • Tracking, reporting, and monitoring of audit issues, reviewing issues management and closure activities:
  • Oversee meeting facilitation between Global Head and Regional Global Markets Audit Leads for audit reports, as well as, Regional Chief Audit Executives as required.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings between Global and Regional Global Markets Audit Leads (and the Global Head of Global Markets Audit, as necessary), to review results demonstrating non-conformance from internal and external / third-party quality assurance reviews and oversee the implementation of action plans. Ensure communication and co-ordination with Regional Chief Audit Executives.
  • Lead and Develop Global presentations and contribute to various management and committee reporting
  • Effectively co-ordinate and manage Global Markets Audit Budget, Forecast and Report Actuals liaising with regional Chief Audit Executives when necessary.
  • Oversee Annual Audit Planning and Risk Assessment.
  • Oversee coordination with the Professional Practices Team for developing materials for participation in various Board-level and Audit Committee meetings, status and governance routines with Global Markets and related Support Functions and the requirements of the EMEA Chief Auditor such that he/she is able to adequately discharge their SMF requirements.
  • Supervise the coordination of responses to regional regulatory inquiries and exams.
  • Coordinate with the Professional Practices Team for the development of Global Markets audit training and tracking of completion of training by Global Markets auditors.


WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Operating at a senior level in an Internal Audit function, developing/ overseeing Professional Practices/ methodological aspects, including Risk Assessment/ Annual Planning, Audit Plan delivery and following up on Management Action Plans.

  • Knowledge of Global Markets activities, processes, products and controls is required, including related Support Functions.
  • The person should understand regulatory requirements and minimum standards for Global Markets.
  • Strong acumen regarding auditing methods and industry practices. A strong understanding of risk management within banking.
  • Global perspective, demonstrating inclusiveness through an appreciation of different perspectives and diversity.
  • A passion for leading people and being driven to be part of a high performing team is a must.

  • Appropriate educational qualifications e.g. CIA, ACCA are preferred. Alternatively candidates with exceptional experience may be considered if they have no relevant educational qualifications

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Senior management-level experience, with ideally 15+ years in a related role with progressive experience in the financial services industry, preferably within similar roles for peer institutions, regulators, and/or leading professional services firms;
  • Extensive knowledge of the financial industry and related regulations;
  • Proven track record in project management and coordination efforts across complex functions;
  • Possesses strong project management skills; exhibits initiative and intuitive thinking; and demonstrates ability to meet strict deadlines;
  • Exhibits effective communication (both verbal and written), negotiation and presentation skills; strong interpersonal skills; and ability to engage with all levels of internal audit and business line management
  • Employs strong critical thinking skills to identify pragmatic recommendations within an evolving and increasingly complex regulatory and risk management environment
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills and problem solving capabilities, strong work ethic and ability to make decisions requiring complex judgments
