Responsible for managing a Compliance group with multiple functions. Accountable for the performance management process; identifies training and development needs; and establishes performance standards for the group and functions.

  1. Manages a Compliance group or multiple functions. Conducts the performance management process, identifies training and development needs, and establishes performance standards for the group.
  2. Determines staffing needs, makes hiring and firing decisions, handles salary administration, and ensures resources are available to accomplish priorities.
  3. Develops the strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the group. Follows through to ensure that objectives are met.
  4. Develops group(s) budget and manages the expenses for the group.
  5. Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.
  6. Responsible for regulatory oversight, at the Corporate level of Compliance policy development and/or evaluation of regulatory policies and procedures.
  7. Point of contact for regulatory examinations and internal and external audits of Compliance-related topics.
  8. May serve as member of the Corporate Compliance Committee. Functions of the Committee will include review of Compliance strategies and policies for submission to the Compliance & Ethics Oversight Committee
  9. Advises business partners, including senior management, on compliance with applicable laws, rules and standards, including keeping them informed on developments with business procedures and processes.
  10. Oversees the development of Compliance programs.
  11. Partners with senior management to identify Compliance programs which should require training, as well as the partners who should take certain training.
  12. Establishes written guidance on compliance with and implementation of applicable laws, rules and standards. This includes policies and procedures and other documents, such as Compliance manuals, internal codes of conduct and practice guidelines.
  13. Identifies, documents and, as necessary, escalates Compliance risks associated with the Company’s activities.
  14. Oversees the development of Compliance risk metrics to enhance Compliance risk assessments and assess the appropriateness of the Company's Compliance procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • 7 preferred or more years’ experience, preferably in Compliance or risk management; or equivalent related experience.
  • Management experience also preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, Compliance-related requirements, and risk mitigation techniques, usually acquired through formal education and experience, is required to manage the group.
  • Leadership and organizational skills are required to manage the group or functions and to direct their activities.
  • Analytical and communication skills are required to review laws/regulations and assess impact of new regulations and work with line areas to oversee and manage Compliance activities.
