The Opportunity
Managed Services is a critical component of the EY Vision 2020+ strategy and a new area of growth for the firm. GMS is already a $5.3 Billion business (FY20), a target of $6 Billion in FY21 and has plans to grow in excess of $10 Billion over the next few years. In order to meet this strategic objective we are undertaking a change in our operating model to enable our Areas (Americas, EMEIA, APAC) to have the right team in place for Managed Services pursuits.
Costing & Pricing Architects lead the development of robust financial analysis for Global Managed Service (GMS) pursuits. The objective of the role is to:
- ensure that EY is able to take a compelling commercial vehicle to market
- articulate the expected financial performance of a GMS engagement
- understand the implications of risks
- identify upside opportunity
Your Key Responsibilities
- Support upfront qualification of complex MS pursuits – with particular focus on testing both parties’ value proposition and designing the charging approach for the pursuit.
- Lead/support the design of competitive pricing proposition for specific client pursuits, achieve an appropriate EY commercial return, and manage key risks – working closely with the pursuit leader, solution architect, deal shaper, legal, commercial, negotiations, risk and independence.
- The pricing design will include costing the solution components, development of the Client Business Case, the EY Business Case, a pricing response, contractual pricing documents, addressing client concerns/requirements and mitigating EY risks.
- Using EY’s costing and pricing tools and best practices, the Costing & Pricing Architect will present the pursuit’s client and EY business cases for internal approvals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships – develop and own relationships with clients and internal delivery teams
- Support the transfer of the pricing knowledge to the EY MS delivery team, to ensure the ongoing management of the commercial aspects of contracts.
- Review the financial returns delivered by MS engagements to ensure the learning is captured as engagements deliver.
- Capture knowledge into EY artefacts that can be used to support MS pursuits and ensure embedded in EY’s overall approach– eg updated costing and pricing policies, models.
- Develop and run training programmes on pricing pursuits lessons learned for account, MS enablement and delivery teams.
- Develop people through effective leadership, coaching and mentoring.
- Support the recruitment and development of pricing talent into the GMS team
Skills and attributes for success
- Experience of having led complex MS pricing for clients in EY and/or other organisations, fluency in alternative fee arrangements.
- 5+ years of working in a complex professional services environment
- 3+ years providing costing and pricing services including extensive experience in Managed Services.
- Working across various client stakeholders
- High level of flexability, drive and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and client service skills.
- Strong organizational skills, with capability to work independently to plan, structure, and execute pursuit activities.
- Attention to detail, continually produce work of high-quality.
- Comfortable working in unstructured environments
- Comfortable with modeling, expert in Microsoft Excel. Demonstrated capabilities in PowerPoint and Word.
To qualify for the role you must have
- Bachelor’s degree in a numerical field (Accounting / Statistics etc.)
Ideally, you’ll also have
- MBA and or Master’s Degree in Business, IT or related field
- Work experience with an Outsourcing firm
