Working within the Financial Management department, the post holder will support the Deputy Head of Financial Management in providing a high quality service of financial information and advice to Managers, Clinical and Corporate Divisions and other finance and corporate departments.

The role is to carry out a range of core finance duties and to provide organisational and administrative support within the Finance Department.

Common to all required tasks is the need to process and prepare financial information in accordance with professional and statutory requirements including the investigation of variances and exceptions as appropriate. It will be necessary to liaise with other finance staff and corporate managers in order to both collect and provide information. Work must be completed within narrow time constraints and the post will be required to organise their workloads.

The post holder should possess good communication skills and will be required to explain and discuss the output from their work with their manager and other finance staff.

The post holder will be required to update and maintain spreadsheets, databases and specialist computer applications within predefined procedures and rules.

It will be necessary to co-ordinate diaries and attend meetings with departmental managers and explain financial information in order to support ongoing projects within the Directorate.

The post holder is required to deputise for other members of the financial management team as and when necessary.

Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
