Our office in Toronto is looking to add a Project Accountant to its team responsible for award winning projects. If you're looking for a challenge, consider joining our team where you will be a major contributor to the growth of exciting projects.

This is a "hands-on" position where you'll review contract terms and associated information, ensuring contracts are setup up correctly. You'll work with Directors and Project Managers to review project status including contract values, assist Project Team in the determination of monthly updates to cost budgets (EACs), liaise with project team to ensure that all project costs are monitored and controlled, corporate procedures and established best practices and techniques are maintained throughout all phases of a project

You'll have the opportunity to make a huge impact. In addition, you'll provide oversight and quality assurance for the activities performed by assigned financial team to ensure that procedures are followed for invoice review, approval and processing, ensure internal consistency, completeness, and accuracy of project data including but not limited to accruals, revenue and cost budgets, EAC updates, invoicing and project costs. You'll also ensure that project costs are accurately recorded in the system and take corrective action as required, identify the need for cost accruals and their processing if needed and preparation of 3rd party invoices/back charge invoices in accordance with the terms and provide supporting backup documentation.

You'll also provide on-going recommendations for continuous improvement (efficiency and quality), assist the contract administrators and project team with the preparation of work plans, provide monthly project reports and analysis and identify variances and potential areas of concern, prepare monthly project reports and analysis and identify variances and potential areas of concern along with ad hoc financial analysis support for projects and respond to financial questions.

Qualifications

• 7 - 10 years project experience
• Project accounting experience required
• Construction/Engineering experience required
• Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis
• Excellent analytical skills
• Superior business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Access)
• Superior communication skills
• Excellent business acumen
• Excellent project controls skills
• Excellent leadership skills
• Superior teamwork skills

Ideally, You'll Also Have:

• Program related experience
• Bachelor's degree in finance and/or accounting or combination of education and related experience.
• CPA or CMA preferred
