The Council is about to embark on an ambitious investment programme including the delivery of high-profile regeneration and housing projects across the district.

Reporting to the Finance Manager your main responsibilities will be the preparation of the Council's capital investment programme, managing the financial aspects of the Council's newly formed housing company (Alliance Homes (Rother)) and the production of the Council's annual financial statements.

To achieve this, you will work closely with Service Managers to develop a fully costed programme that meets our corporate objectives. You will also effectively act as the Alliance Homes (Rother) company accountant.

You will also lead and co-ordinate the Council's process for producing its annual financial statements and will be the first point of contact with our external auditors. By keeping up to date with financial reporting developments you will provide the necessary advice and guidance enabling the Finance division to deliver an auditable and robust set of accounts, which comply with the relevant codes of practice.

You will be professionally qualified, preferably with a good grasp of the challenges facing local government today. An ability to interpret and implement complex technical issues is essential and you will be adept at forming effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as colleagues within the Finance team.

The Council strongly encourages staff to undertake professional development training. We also adopt the principles of 'agile' working so that staff can develop a good work/life balance.
