About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Project Accountant to join our Highways team to work in Winchester.

Role Profile:

To support the Project Accountant in providing cost control and reporting for BB projects within the Smart Motorways Alliance. The individual will work closely with other members of the Finance and Site Support team and will contribute to the smooth running of the project finance function.

What you'll be doing

As an Assistant Project Accountant, you will:

  • Prepare monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations;
  • Manage weekly timesheet process;
  • Assist in preparation of month end accounts and CVR submission;
  • Cashflow reporting and forecasting;
  • Review and analyse costs to maximise cost recoveries from the customer;
  • Ensure project costs are recorded and accounted for correctly;
  • Analyse and produce reports on business financial information;
  • Assist in various project/contract review meetings to ensure that issues and risks are identified and addressed;
  • Assist in identifying variances from forecasts and liaise with line and commercial managers as appropriate;
  • Review the weekly payment runs;
  • Ad hoc duties as and when required;
  • Live the Balfour Beatty Values;
  • Focus on Zero Harm.
Who we're looking for

Personal Qualities & Experience

Essential:

  • Part qualified or equivalent accountant;
  • Hands on individual with a strong attention to detail;
  • Good Excel skills;
  • Able and willing to analyse high volume complex data;
  • Adaptable and positive in outlook, self-motivated and driven;
  • Excellent communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Relevant experience gained within a contracting/projects background;
  • Experience in ERPs including Oracle.
