Social Enterprise supporting smallholder farmers [591]Flights and Accommodation provided
Hyderabad, India
4-6 weeks
Our partner is an innovative social enterprise, using technology to bring sustainable incomes and choice to the life of smallholder farmers. They require a volunteer to provide advice and guidance to their small finance team.
The organisation provides farmers with an integrated climate resilient farm solution called ‘Greenhouse-in-a-box’ – an affordable, modular greenhouse and drip system that uses 90% less water. Alongside this they also provide a small loans service to enable them to purchase the greenhouse, advisors to support the farmers both in the field and using mobile technology and market access by linking them to retail partners who buy produce directly.
Your role would be to review their control environment, systems and processes, bearing in mind their decentralised operations, and support them in tightening controls and improving the flow and quality of information that is received. They do not have sufficient financial management tools, specifically around cash management and cashflow, and would benefit from support in developing and training the local staff in these.
This assignment would particularly suit an experienced, commercially astute volunteer.
