Our partner is an international conservation organisation. They are recruiting a Finance Director to lead the finance function of their programme in the Republic of Congo; this is their largest programme.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management of financial systems and staff; this includes ensuring proper internal controls are in place and understood within the organisation, and that the financial risks of the organisation and operations are assessed and mitigated.
  • Responsible for timely accounting and financial management of the country programme; this includes oversight of the day to day accounting, banking, and ensuring that the organisation meets its local compliance, reporting and tax requirements.
  • Responsible for creating the organisational budget, and budgetary analysis and reporting.
  • Lead on preparing donor budgets, and overseeing the management of grants – including compliance and reporting.
  • Financial management of the sub-grantees.
  • Responsible for recruiting and managing finance & HR staff.
  • HR and administrative responsibilities.
  • Requirements

  • Qualified accountant, or if qualified by experience then a Bachelors degree in accounting or finance as a minimum requirement.
  • Senior finance professional with experience in developing controls and financial processes and policies; and at least three years of experience in leading the finance function for a country programme of an international charity.
  • Significant experience of grants compliance and management, specifically experience of managing institutional grants, including those from the EU and US governments.
  • Strong analytical skills, and computer and systems skills; advanced MSExcel skills are essential.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Culturally sensitive and resilient.
  • The role will be based in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, with travel to field locations required.

    Salary c. $75,000. Additionally, the organisation offers generous allowances and benefits.
