Main purpose of job
To direct and control a team of accountancy staff providing full
accounting services for a large operating centre.
Main responsibilities
1. Direct and control accountancy staff to ensure that they are
appropriately trained and motivated and carry out their responsi-
bilities to the required standards.
2. Assist in the development of business plans to enable the com-
pany to meet its corporate objectives.
3. Provide full accounting services, including the preparation of
estimates, annual operating and capital budgets and final accounts
for an operating centre.
4. Provide advice and guidance to managers and staff on the inter-
pretation and implementation of financial regulations and account-
ancy codes of practice.
5. Develop and maintain all other necessary controls and processes
to ensure that legal and financial requirements and regulations
are complied with.
6. Monitor the financial information system to ensure that timely
and accurate information is provided for managerial decision
making.
7. Oversee the preparation of statistical returns and financial analy-
sis on a range of topics for internal and external use.
8. Oversee the administration of any loans and repayments, includ-
ing maintaining liaison with brokers and lenders.
9. Prepare and monitor cash flow projections and associated records
to determine the optimum use of funds or the need to raise
additional revenue.
