About the job

At Google, data drives all of our decision-making. As a part of the Business Intelligence Team, you'll be using data to inform business and product decisions across the company. When a feature on one of our products -- from Google to Search to YouTube -- gets tweaked, you'll work with finance and engineering teams to measure the impact of that change. Using your technical skills and business acumen, you'll build tools to automate reporting and dashboard updates so clients can see quickly and accurately how projects are performing. You'll be involved from project inception to report design through to data delivery, ensuring that your reports are delivering high-quality and relevant data so that our business can grow intelligently.

We are tasked with bringing content and user insights to meaningfully further Google Play's commercial objectives.

We primarily support the Google Play Merchandising team, who curate the Google Play store with meaningful 1st and 3rd party content during moments of importance to users (regional holidays) and the developer ecosystem (new launches). We provide all performance measurement (ranging from simple tracking, A/B tests to causal inference) on Merchandising activities. We help measure and report progress against goals.

We frequently do deep dives into Google Play performance, user behavior in top markets, by user segments. Insights are surfaced to Google Play Leads and often lead to impactful actions.

We closely partner with product and marketing teams to further Google Play's commercial objectives by recommending features/experiments by using a combination of content, user insights and advanced analytics (such as machine learning based classification models, segmentation, etc).

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define analytical scope, success criteria, timeline for various projects, and manage the overall analytical project execution. Work with business, product, and engineering counter parts to translate insights into experiments, conduct measurements and business cases for scaling actions.
  • Define, develop, automate relevant metrics and dashboards to support decision-making by relevant stakeholders. Set standards and benchmarks to evaluate campaigns, marketing and other initiatives globally, by vertical and by region.
  • Utilize causal inference, predictive models/machine learning to execute segmentations, improve measurement and drive better user targeting.
  • Blend analytical rigor with business knowledge to execute deep dives (as needed) and deliver actionable recommendations for executive forums.
  • Ensure a high degree of rigor and quality in all projects and ensure that processes are adopted and best practices are shared.
