The Role Responsibilities

Purpose and Strategy
The [CPBB Finance Lead for Personal and Business Banking] is responsible for providing ideas, analytics and insights for the strategic decisions facing the CPBB Global Head of Personal and Business Banking, a direct report of the CPBB CEO. This includes partnering closely with their leadership team (LT), including the Global Head of Personal Banking, Global Head of Business Banking, Global Head of CCPL and Global Head of Deposits and Mortgages to drive the profitability of the Personal Banking segment and ensure appropriate product returns across all segments and across all countries. Will also partner closely with the CPBB head of partnerships and the CPBB Global Head of Digital and Data to evaluate new strategic opportunities, channels and tie-ups to acquire and service new clients profitably and at scale to significantly increase our participation in the retail mass market segment.
Business & Planning and Analysis

  • Guide the Global Head of Personal and Business Banking and their LT on the business financial performance of the Personal and Business Banking segments, highlighting areas of opportunity and early warnings of the challenges ahead
  • Review and challenge strategic options and actions to drive growth and/or profitability of the Personal and Business Banking segments and evaluating the benefits of proposed investments while ensuring discipline on targeted returns.
  • Review, evaluate and ensure the robustness of the Personal and Business Banking Corporate Plan across all regions and countries, and track progress against our Personal & Business Banking strategic goals
  • Develop and implement new client measurement analytics, including cost to acquire, cost to serve, and client lifetime value to provide expert guidance and actionable ideas in order to improve the profitability and accelerate the growth of the Personal segment
  • Conduct product deep dives with the global product leaders to formulate business strategies, identify opportunities to improve income and returns and ensure efficient deployment of resources and capital across all segments and countries
  • Develop and evaluate early stage digital partnership business cases, working with the head of partnerships and work closely with country CEOs, CFOs, as potential opportunities move forward
  • Identify and drive cost and headcount management actions in response to digital initiatives
  • Advise the CPBB leadership Team and Personal and Business Banking team on execution / tracking of strategic projects across personal, business banking, digital and partnerships and the benefits thereof.
  • Advise CPBB Leaders on the product impact of macroeconomic changes, and work closely with country leaders and CFOs on new dynamic product forecasting models
  • Work closely with the CFO of CPBB and Performance Management Head to develop the external Personal story and key investor messaging
Processes
  • Work in conjunction with the CPBB Performance Management Head to run the Corporate Planning Process to incorporate strategic actions and new ventures in order to set Personal Segment, Business Banking and Products targets across regions and countries and identify actions to optimize returns and EVA
  • Support and drive insight across all Personal, Business Banking and Digital business reviews, review all Personal and Business Banking outlooks across countries and regions, and participate in Personal, Business Banking, and Digital and Platforms investment forums
  • Establish and manage the processes for evaluating new potential partnerships and new standalone ventures, working closely with the partnership team, nexus and digital center of excellence
  • Coordinate with regional teams and performance management teams to perform bi-annually marginal product returns analysis
People and Talent
  • To lead, inspire and motive the CPBB Finance teams ensuring that each individual team member achieves their potential and that the team together delivers its collective agenda
  • Lead the drive for up-tiering and upskilling the CPBB Finance teams in order to develop high performing teams for the future inspire and engage people
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all crucial functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks
  • Review team structure, capacity and plans
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
Risk Management
  • Coordinate regular review with Risk on Personal and CCPL portfolios to ensure appropriate risk-return pricing and capital deployment across all countries
  • Review Risk Weighted Asset (RWA) performance vis-à-vis balance sheet growth and returns for the Personal and Business Banking segments across all countries
Governance
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations to the role
  • Represent the Finance function at key CPBB Business forums and committees and escalating any issues that may impact finance responsibilities
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 10+ years relevant experience in business financial planning and analysis at a senior level gained at a leading, global financial services firm, preferably banking
  • Experience in business financial planning/Business partnering/business consulting role
  • Business or Financial analysis at a senior level in financial Industry, preferably in banking or Fintech.
  • Demonstrated track record of business partnering who can influence and effectively challenge C-suite stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the broader banking and/or digital / fintech environment and associated business challenges as a senior finance or strategy leader of a senior management team.
  • Proven problem solver using quantitative techniques, strong analytical skills with ability to develop proof of concept frameworks and business cases
  • Strong people leader with ability to lead and grow teams of international talent, with a proven ability to work across teams and influence a broad range of stakeholders
  • Academic degree from a well-recognized institution
