To be successful in the role, the candidate's strong analytical and organizational skills will be supported by the ability to adapt to a dynamic and internationally diverse environmentHere's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish togetherTELUS Corporate Treasury is responsible for managing banking relationships and optimizing the firm's balance sheet including the raising of bank debt, public debt, securitization and equity capital to meet the needs of the underlying growing business in Canada and increasingly on an international basis. In addition, Treasury is responsible for facilitating payments, managing the short term liquidity of the firm and hedging interest rate and currency risk.This is an entry level training position in TELUS' corporate treasury department based in Vancouver. The successful candidate will first participate in a one year training program to gain a breadth of experience across multiple facets of Treasury including cash management, banking services and shareholder administration. Candidate will be expected to backfill other TELUS treasury team member roles during vacation and other absences. - Mergers & Acquisition Integration - Liaise among Banks and Credit Card Merchant Acquirers, TELUS business units and acquired entities to understand existing and future forward banking and cash management processes; Prepare change of ownership documentation; coordinate new subsidiaries banking and cash management set up to operate seamlessly under the TELUS umbrella
- Management of Bank Relations - Manage the banking relationships with key bank team members and liaise with TELUS business units for new bank products & services, periodic pricing, and operational escalations
- Credit Card Merchant Acceptance - Liaise and support TELUS business units with Merchant Acquirers and Credit Card companies for pricing, change management, compliance, Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards and operational escalations
- Corporate Card - Liaise with external provider and internal TELUS Corporate Card program team members for contract renewal, rebate maximization, change management and compliance
- Signing Authority & Related Bank Documentation - Ensure signing authority, legal entity organizational changes and other bank compliance information is current, maintained, documented and communicated with the relevant Banks
- Bank Fees Custodial Budget - Prepare annual budget estimate for bank fees and perform periodic variance analysis
- Understand TELUS short-term cash needs
- Be able to transact critical payments (dividends/bond and bank interest)
- Be able to support the transaction of foreign exchange purchases and Commercial Paper issuance and to invest surplus cash under TELUS' governance policy
- Check effectiveness of and document internal controls, identify weaknesses/gaps in existing processes and recommend improvements by leveraging best practices and ensuring SOX compliance
- Have a general understanding of TELUS' share plans and shareholder administration

- Self-starter, attention to detail, aptitude to work with large amounts of data and to manage it effectively
- Passion to deep-dive into financial details combined with the ability to step back and synthesize data to make meaningful recommendations
- Experience working well in a cross-functional team environment, as well as with minimal supervision
- Interpersonal skills to build good working relationships and influence others at all levels of the organization
- Willingness to own the deliverables you manage and evolve them by working with our partners through continuous process improvement
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables to meet deadlines and goals in fast-paced, ever-changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, and/or Google Suite
- Position will appeal to those recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in business with a specialization in finance and an interest in banking services, cash management, capital markets and the macro economy
- Preference will be given to those candidates with some experience (2 years) at a Canadian Financial institution or in a corporate development/treasury role at a public corporation
- Pursuing or obtained Canadian Securities Course
- Pursuing CFA designation or CPA designation and/or working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
- Experience with or knowledge of SAP and/or Treasury Management Systems
