About the role:

G8 Education is going through a period of unprecedented transformation and we are currently seeking an experienced National Payroll Manager to join our team.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end payroll and defining the standards and processes for all payroll operations for approximately 10,000 team members. You will ensure that all the obligations we have as an employer are managed and met in a timely manner including all statutory compliance requirements as specified by the ATO, Federal and State Governments, ASIC and other regulatory bodies.

The National Payroll Manager will lead process improvement and ensure that we leverage our payroll system to improve our employee experience, inform our stakeholders and drive efficiencies in our practices. This will provide more time for our leaders and team members to focus on delivering the best outcomes for the children and families we care for.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead the continuous improvement of G8 Educations payroll practices to leverage and improve the use of our technology
  • Drive efficiencies for the team and support our team members' ability to interact with our systems in a simple and effective manner
  • Manage the testing of version upgrades for payroll programs, and project manage any new development within the payroll function
  • Assist the WFM team with support for all payroll associated programs
  • Coordinate the development, deployment and support of Group Payroll initiatives
  • Manage the processing of our pay cycles across Award and individually contracted employees, ensuring our team members are paid in line with their respective terms and conditions and legislative requirements
  • Ensuring that G8 Education maintains the relevant compliance requirements through changes to awards and legislation and plan for required changes in an effective and efficient manner
  • Responsibility for responding to internal and external audit inquiries and responding to legislative compliance requirements and requests
  • Ensures the appropriate systems are in place to maintain data integrity and security of payroll information
  • Develop the capabilities of the Payroll Team, including coaching and leading the team in line with G8's values and behavioral competencies

Ideally, you will have:
  • Qualifications in relevant payroll or related discipline and equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of employment legislation in how it relates to accurate payroll management and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with systems integration, payroll transitions and complicated payroll projects.
  • Proven ability in building and leading successful operational teams.
  • A demonstrated track record in identifying and implementing process improvements whilst maintaining the required level of governance within the current processes.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Experience with Preceda, Kronos HCM and Dimensions is highly regarded
  • Tertiary qualifications in either HR/ER/IR or Finance and experience within the Early Childhood Education and Care sector are highly regarded however, not essential
