The Role Responsibilities

The role is to support the Sustainable Finance (SF) team across multiple areas of process, governance and reporting to ensure effective and rapid buildout and implementation of the SF franchise across CIB.

Role Responsibilities (not limited to)
  • Supporting the SF team on all strategic initiatives and process and governance issues to ensure a robust SF framework / process universe is implemented.
  • Building relationships and internal stakeholder engagement with colleagues across the business and functions.
  • Engaging with external consultants on Environmental and Social (E&S) projects
  • Reporting; Client Impact, Sustainability Bond, Annual Report and other SF/ Bank obligations
  • Tableau support
  • Working closely with the Head of Strategic Initiatives, Sustainable Finance to develop and execute related programme of work understanding the implications of the strategy that would make SC the Bank best known for Sustainable Finance by our clients and other stakeholders
  • Helping to support the Bank's strategic sustainable finance efforts and the development of processes, policies, governance, risk function collaboration, Bank wide sustainable finance collaboration across businesses, regulatory alignment across Sustainable Finance for the Bank with a focus on developments in the Bank's key hubs in LDN, HK, SG, DXB and other key Bank markets focused on sustainable finance products and services
  • Helping to support the build out of the Sustainable Finance product and client proposition through driving and developing the SF program of work
  • Working with Finance, the COO chain and Product teams to develop the correct MIS and reporting to enable progress to be tracked across revenues, transactions and assets.
  • Providing support on monitoring, evaluating, budgeting and reporting of project performance against planned objectives and deliverables and milestones
  • Coordinating with stakeholders in other CIB businesses to ensure integration of SF is effective and new processes are covered appropriately.
  • Helping to coordinate internal and external audit reviews - liaising with stakeholders to ensure timely / accurate information is provided.
  • Supporting the effectiveness of the SF team's arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls and, if necessary, overseeing changes in these areas.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Relevant 3+ years experience in banking
  • Knowledge of environmental and social themes, issues and topics
  • Knowledge of general global sustainability themes in a business context
  • Knowledge of banking, trade finance, transaction management, bank approval processes and credit risk (essential)
  • Ability to take initiative, plan, activate and implement projects, managing stakeholders
  • Ability to identify and prioritise key issues
  • Ability to solve complex practical problems in a pragmatic manner
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and trusted relationships
  • Results-oriented with ability to follow-through
  • Commitment to learn about a wide variety of themes and topics as appropriate
  • Project management skills
  • Well-developed listening, speaking, writing and influencing skills
