Experienced Accounts Assistant/Assistant Accountant required for an SME based in Bradford with plans to double the turnover in the next 2/3 years.

The main purpose of the role is to support the day-to-day finance function by working closely with the Financial Controller and taking sole responsibility for the purchase ledger. Duties will include:

Purchase Ledger

* Logging and distribution of daily invoices.

* Matching, coding, scanning and posting of invoices.

* Producing UK Bacs payment runs and manual cheques.

* Reconciling supplier statements.

* Matching stock invoices against GRN's and investigating variances.

* Setting up new suppliers.

Cash book

* Ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.

* Bank reconciliations.

* Petty cash.

Nominal Ledger

* Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

* Profit and loss variance reporting.

* Accruals and prepayments.

* Preparation and posting of monthly journals.


* Update the cash flow daily.

* Monthly Vat return.

* Maintenance of fixed asset register.

* Assist with year-end and preparation of audit files.

* Other ad-hoc duties.

This search is not limited to any industry. Previous experience and a solid understanding of debits and credits is key to this recruitment:

* You must be IT literate with working knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookups).

* Sage Line 200 experience is desirable.

* The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is essential.
