What is the opportunity?

It's an exciting time to join Customer Experience Design & Insights (CXDI) at RBC!

We're an internal experience design agency, consisting of a group of customer experience pros with a passion for pushing design, creativity and innovation in everything we do.

CXDI collaborates with key stakeholders across the Canadian Banking platform to assist in the creation and evolution of business strategies by generating, translating, and helping with the implementation of world class client insights that enhance RBC's client experience, drive business results, and increase customer loyalty.

This role will support the Engagement Team in attempting to leverage multiple sources of the "consumer voice" with the focus of constructing insights and implications rooted in 'Behavioral Economics/Consumer Psychology' and Design Thinking. The objective being to enhance the organizations capacity to evolve, design and deliver innovation in customer experience, product strategy and marketing.

Our goal is to make every RBC customer experience consistently outstanding. You'll be collaborating with a top-notch team of CX architects, strategists, writers and researchers following a shared vision.

What will you do?

- Collaborate with members of the team as well as "client" team members in uncovering, gathering, interpreting and packaging insights to guide decisions and strategies

- Identify relevant consumer trends and sources of trends (through web research & coordinating efforts with research providers)

- Interpret and do analysis of analytics / data tables to surface patterns and gain further understanding around drivers of consumer behaviours or to frame results of initiatives

- Assist in the design and coordination of brainstorming sessions and workshops, helping assemble materials needed

- Act as 'notetaker' at the sessions, capture conversations in detail during meetings and adapt templates to develop required final reports and summery documents

- Participate in meetings with stakeholders to interpret results and identify opportunities for more exploration

- Book group planning and review sessions with internal partners or external vendors

- On a daily basis, review trend alerts and research reports and redistribute as required

- Help create and/or enhance PowerPoint presentations & reports: creating charts, tables, graphs etc. to help with storytelling

- Assist the Design Strategists with miscellaneous opportunities as they surface


- Microsoft office, deep working knowledge: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator); Experience formatting/creating PowerPoint templates, excel sheets and word documents

- Experience or an appreciation for digital design

- Strong web research skill

- Strong communications and interpersonal skills; Ability to work independently with communication and guidance but with minimal direction

- A willingness and ability to be a contributor at meetings

- Experience working in a team-based environment; Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build good working relationships; Highly flexible and capable of adapting to changes in an evolving and collaborative team environment

- An appreciation/ basic level understanding of decision making theory/cognitive biases

- Passionate about emerging technology (consumer facing), trends and a good understanding of social media & other digitally relevant potential B2C platforms.

- Analytical capabilities and an appreciation for trends

- Able to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical milestones and deadlines

- Excellent problem-solving skills & Detail-oriented


- Good understanding of Design Thinking and/or Conceptual thinking

- Visual/graphic skills

- Presentation skills and good communication skills with stakeholders and external partners

- Video production and photography skills

- Experience in making PowerPoint presentations, formatting, and communicating on multiple levels

- Understanding of the role of "Marketing", market research & a higher level understanding of design thinking would be considered an asset
