How will I help?
You will provide the Board and Senior Executive with independent and objective evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of Group's governance, risk management and internal controls, as they relate to the core responsibilities outlined below.
You will add value and help improve Westpac's operations by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls.
Leading the COO audit teams (within Technology, Data Analytics, Operations and Projects portfolios) responsible for auditing risks relating to these divisions and risk classes across the Westpac Group

Leading the COO audit teams (within Technology, Data Analytics, Operations and Projects portfolios) responsible for auditing risks relating to these divisions and risk classes across the Westpac Group
This includes the following core responsibilities:
- Developing and maintaining the audit risk assessment and risk-based audit plan for COO audit plans, ensuring coverage of policies, processes and controls over APRA prudential and other regulatory requirements;
- Executing the Audit plan, including remediation testing of issues, and preparing and delivering reporting on the adequacy and effectiveness of the oversight, risk management and internal controls of Executive Management and for inclusion in Group Audit reporting to the board and it committees as appropriate;
- Preparing and delivering Board Technology Committee quarterly reporting;
- Overseeing the monitoring of COO portfolios and escalating issues where identified
- Leading the Group Audit department consistent with Group Audits strategy, the Group's strategy, Group policies and frameworks, relevant delegations, the Group Risk Appetite Statement and applicable laws and regulations;
- Implement Business Continuity Planning and disaster recovery measures, at the direction of the GM Group Audit;
- Implement measures to maintain data quality, safeguard proper storage, usage, and destruction of data.

What do I need?
- Undergraduate degree and Graduate degree (MBA, Accounting, Finance, or related field);
- Membership of Chartered Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor preferred;
- At least 17 years of experience in internal audit or Big 4 accounting practice with relevant experience in financial services; including auditing of either the technology, data, operations or projects portfolios
- Strong communication and relationship skills appropriate for senior executives and Board Committees;
- Proven leadership ability in managing professional teams and executing an audit plan for a large firm;
- Similar international experience working in a leadership capacity is highly desirable.
