The Research Accounting team is responsible for the financial management of research grants and consultancy projects within the University. This includes (but is not limited to) the establishment of projects and budgets, invoicing requirements, completion of statutory and contractual Financial Reporting obligations and providing day to day finance business partnering support.

The opportunity
Reporting to the Finance Strategic Leader, this position is a senior member of the Research Accounting team. As the Senior Financial Analyst you will be responsible for advancing, managing and safeguarding Griffith University's financial integrity and security and ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and reporting requirements. You will be required to undertake activities of a complex nature which require a strong understanding of the University's research function, finance framework and relevant legislation.

You will be responsible for applying their expertise and judgment to synthesise strategic insights to inform the development and implementation of finance policies, systems, strategies, controls and solutions. You will help supervise the team and work collaboratively with others to analyse, prioritise and solve complex strategic, operational and transactional finance issues.

You will analyse the internal and external operating environments to identify and evaluate trends, challenges, risks and opportunities and their impacts on Griffith University. You will provide comprehensive and compelling finance insights to enable strategic investment decision-making.

This is a 12 month fixed term, full time position based at the Nathan campus.

About you
To be successful within this role, you will hold a relevant tertiary qualifications and a professional accounting qualification. Experience in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, organisational policies, granting body conditions and generally accepted accounting principles is required, as is demonstrated experience in leading a team, including experience in driving change and continuous improvement in both transactional and technical reporting.

Salary range
HEW Level 8 $96,662 to $108,742 per annum. Salary package including 17% superannuation $113,095 - 127,229 per annum.
