KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Financial Management and Compliance (assume the role of Alternate Compliance Officer and associated regulatory duties)
* Responsible for the oversight of day-to-day finance and accounting operations to ensure timely and accurate financial information with appropriate internal controls.
* Prepare timely and accurate financial reports monthly, quarterly, and annually in accordance with GAAP as well as provide other financial information to the General Manager, Management Team, Treasurer and Board of Directors
* Payroll review and approval
* Vendor management from a finance perspective, including software
updates/implementations from Credit Union's providers and other affiliates such as Cuna and others
* Maintain banking relationships and serve as primary liaison with financial institutions
* Prepare cash flow projections based on existing balances
* Manage the annual budgeting process,
* Provide financial input to long-term strategic plan development
* Lead annual audit process, ensuring year-round compliance with GAAP and credit union accounting standards.
* Lead timely and accurate preparation of all tax returns and other information as required by governing bodies.
* Review and manage, and establish as needed, new internal systems and controls, operations, processes and financial procedures to ensure the integrity of financial information and reporting.
* Communicate with staff and board, orally, in writing, through reports and visual representation, to provide financial updates and overviews, support a strong culture of financial oversight
* Provide support to the General Manger, the Board of Directors and the associated committees with respect to Investments and the financial impact to the Credit Union
* Assist with the management of the Delinquency Portfolio including recommendations to the Committee's Chairman and the Board of Directors
* Provide financial analysis of the various types of loans being granted to the Credit Union's members
* To understand the implications of the various international financial reporting standard and their impact on the Credit Union finances and preparation of statutory report
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
* ACCA qualified or at least equivalent accounting designation and/or academically qualified to a Degree level in accounting or finance field
* CPA or master's degree preferred;
* Minimum of 5 years' successful financial management experience in positions with increasing responsibility with a budget of $5M or more;
* High-level knowledge of GAAP;
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
* Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles & financial analysis
* Ability to navigate use of an Accounting or Credit Union software
* Demonstrated experience
and
expertise
with
Excel
and
other
Microsoft
Office applications;
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Proven skills in managing staff and ability to build and support effective teams;
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
* Highly motivated and highly organized and able to juggle competing priorities;
* High level of integrity and professionalism
