The Company

Nye Health is an early stage, VC-backed health-tech co. based in the Oxford Foundry and Edinburgh. We're reimagining the research layer in healthcare. Clinical research is the engine room of progress in human health. However, it is inefficient, undemocratic and eye-wateringly expensive. At Nye, we have set out to transform the paradigm of clinical research by putting patients in control. Our mission is to build the healthiest community on earth and in so doing enable a new model of decentralised and virtual medical research. To date we've supported over half a million patients, built a product that scaled double digits week on week and started work with some major clinical trials (Including the early stages of the COVID vaccine study - The Telegraph).

We're backed by angels, NHS healthcare providers and leading healthcare VCs. Our seed round was one of the largest for any health-tech company in Europe. We have an incredible team of clinicians, engineers and designers with backgrounds in clinical medicine, the life sciences and the defence industry.

The role: Non-Executive Director (NED)

We are looking for a Non-Executive Director (NED) to join our board who will accelerate our commercial journey into the consumer technology and clinical trials industries.

The NED will work closely with the board, the CEO and the management team with a focus on supporting Nye's Business Growth Strategy and providing support to the founders. The ideal candidate will need to have executive-level experience preferably gained across some of these core industries: clinical trials, pharma and consumer tech, and have a broad network of contacts to enable us to penetrate the market.

Externally, the NED should act as a strong brand ambassador, leveraging his/her contacts and network to open new business opportunities for the Company. In particular, with regards to partnership opportunities, commercial partners and potential investors.

As part of this, he/she will commit to:

• A minimum of 8 Board meetings per year.
• Contact with the Senior Management Team, in person and by phone.
• Overall, the role will require a minimum commitment of 1-2 days' work per month.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic support

• Assist the board in developing and agreeing on strategy
• Assist the Board in implementing the strategy
• Work on strategic initiatives hand in hand with the Senior Management Team

External Relations

• Act as an ambassador and spokesperson for Nye Health, when appropriate
• Make introductions to potential clients and governmental bodies
• Assist in effective communication with shareholders and investors

Relationship with the Senior Management Team

• Establish and build a strong, effective and constructive working relationship with the Co-Founders
• Coaching the CEO
• Ensure regular contact with the Senior Management Team and develop and maintain an open and supportive relationship within which each can speak openly about challenges and opportunities

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

Whilst, we have laid out some criteria we are also interested very open to applications from people who sit outside them but feel that they could bring game-changing expertise to Nye.

Ideal candidates will have:

• A deep understanding of clinical trials, digital health and/or consumer technology
• Executive-level experience preferably gained across one of these core industries (clinical trials, pharma and consumer tech)
• A broad network of contacts ideally across multiple industries - pharma, clinical trials, consumer tech and the investor community
• Start-up/business-building experience demonstrated one or more of the following:
  • Experience in leveraging technology to disrupt traditional industries, proven by previous experience in C-level or board position in a tech-driven business or early-stage startup.
  • A track record of successfully building companies, understanding the trade-offs required to be successful in a fast-moving environment with limited resources
  • A successful track record for business growth and expansion
