Team/Position Overview

Treasury and Trade Solution (TTS) is part of the Institutional Clients Group (ICG). TTS is a leading provider of cash management, treasury, trade, clearing, depository receipts and commercial cards services. TTS has a global network spanning more than 100 countries and is unique in the industry for its reach, interoperability and flexibility. We provide clients with dynamic information, tools, and APIs to effectively manage their portfolios, financial positions, working capital and supply chains.

One of the key functions within TTS is Liquidities and Accounts (L&A) Technology. L&A Technology is a newly created group formed by merging Liquidities Technology and Core Banking Technology groups. This new group will be responsible for the development of a platform to deliver Liquidities and Accounts services to our clients.

We are seeking an experienced, hands on engineering leader to lead simplification through decommissioning of legacy components of the Core Banking platform and evolution into a strategic target state. With this in mind, The Global Head Accounts Engineering is a newly created role with key responsibility to review the incumbent legacy stack across the Core Banking platforms, define a target state Accounts platform and execute on this roadmap.

The role is equal parts Accounts SME, Engineer and Execution Driver.

This role will define and establish the Accounts Engineering team and associated delivery capability needed to drive a multi-year transformation from legacy Core Banking to the Accounts platform of the future. The position requires a senior candidate with exceptional technical, leadership and communication abilities combined with knowledge and/or experience of Accounting Technology and associated Business Processes.

The role will report directly to the Global Head of L&A Technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and leading an elite Engineering unit focused on the development and of the Accounts platform globally
  • Defining a lean, nimble, scalable Accounts Technology future state and execution roadmap
  • Optimising engineering plans for elimination of legacy infrastructure with special focus on Risk and Compliance
  • Partnering with strategic functional teams across TTS, Markets and Enterprise O&T (General Ledger and other Back Office) teams to ensure functional capabilities are right-placed and front to back delivery objectives are met
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence across the group: modern engineering practices, adoption of open source and open standards, automation and tooling, collaboration and efficiency


Experience and Skills

Experience
  • Experience leading large multi-year technology transformation initiatives, specially focused on minimizing vendor product footprint.
  • Experience and knowledge of Accounting Technology and preferably experience developing/managing large complex, global Accounts Platforms
  • Deep expertise as a technical leader working on complex technology ecosystem in a large organization, establishing and leading strong engineering teams
  • Experience driving software delivery transformation through Agile practice and process, with a focus of establishing Continuous Delivery culture and process
  • Qualifications such as ACCA/CPA /CFA/CMA would be highly valued
  • Experience with Oracle Core Banking Product (Flexcube) could be useful but not necessary

  • Enterprise architecture mind-set with ability to solve a problem in more than one way, so as to make progress towards a desired target state, with continuous evaluation and course correction along the way
  • Highly credible hands on engineer, confident to deep dive into a product or a codebase and offer detailed, constructive analysis and feedback
  • Exceptional communicator who loves working with people, confident communicating at all levels from an individual team to the entire enterprise and is not afraid to challenge status quo
  • Well-developed technical written communication skills and able to effectively use internal collaboration platforms to communicate across the group
