Senior Accountant, Payroll

Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. All new and existing Atlassians will continue to work from home until it's safe to return to our offices. When our offices re-open, we will provide the choice to work from home or return to work in an office unless a job requirement makes it necessary for a particular role to be performed at an Atlassian office.

We are seeking a Senior Accountant, Payroll who will be responsible for global payroll accounting. The ideal person will have experience in a similar role and be systems savvy. You will be part of a fast-paced, fun, distributed team. We're looking for someone that will bring their whole self to work and add more of that special spice that makes our TEAM great!

In this role, you'll get to:

• Take on responsibility for global payroll related month end activities including but not limited to journals, account reconciliations, and other accounting operations.
• Provide fluctuation analysis and insights to FP&A and Accounting leadership for forecasting and financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly forecasts for Treasury team.
• Document and maintain payroll accounting processes, policies and procedures.
• Provide basic accounting education for the Payroll Operations team, as needed.
• Lead global payroll automation initiatives to drive continuous process improvements.
• Work cross functionally with other Accounting teams on projects, financial audits, and financial reporting.
• Assist Payroll Compliance team with audits, as needed.
• Assist with ad-hoc Payroll projects (e.g. M&A, global and/or regional benefit initiatives and etc.)

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

• BS, BA or CPA preferred
• At least 5 years of Payroll Accounting experience
• Netsuite, Workday Payroll, ADP Compliance, experience a plus
• Strong Excel experience
• Critical thinker and problem solver
• Detail-oriented
• Must be able to work under tight deadlines
• Good customer service and communication skills
• Strong organizational, time management and prioritization abilities
• Must feel comfortable working with a remote manager
