The Role Responsibilities

Purpose and Strategy
The [CPBB Finance Lead for Affluent and Wealth] is responsible for providing ideas, analytics and insights for the strategic decisions facing the CPBB Global Head of Affluent coverage, Private and Priority Banking, and separately the CPBB Global Head of Wealth Management, each as direct reports of the CPBB CEO. This includes partnering closely with the Head of Affluent and its Leadership team to evaluate, refine and execute the competitive strategic decisions around distinct branding, customer propositions and coverage models for Private and Priority customer segments. This also includes separately partnering with the Global head of Wealth Management and its Leadership team to drive wealth management performance, penetration, new products and end to end client wealth journeys as a cornerstone of our affluent segment strategy, and scalable wealth solutions appropriate for the personal segment.
Business & Planning and Analysis

  • Guide the Global Head of Affluent Coverage and their LT on the business and financial performance of Affluent, and its subsegments, highlighting areas of opportunity and early warnings of the challenges ahead
  • Review and challenge strategic options and actions to drive growth and profitability across all the Affluent subsegments, including the competitive positioning of their unique value propositions and evaluating the benefits of proposed investments while ensuring discipline on targeted returns.
  • Review, evaluate and ensure the robustness of the Affluent Corporate Plan across all regions and countries, and track progress against our Affluent strategic goals
  • Develop and implement new client measurement analytics to identify the targeted progression of affluent client journeys, including the lifetime value of client subsegments, cross-sell and attrition trends in order to validate, challenge or provide insights on the customer value propositions and execution success
  • Guide the Global Head of Wealth Management and their LT on the financial performance of the Wealth product across all segments including tracking sales, risk and opportunities across regions and countries, and evaluating new product offerings
  • Conduct wealth product deep dives with the wealth global product leaders to formulate business strategies, identify opportunities to improve income and returns and ensure efficient deployment of investments and resources across all segments and countries
  • Advise CPBB Leadership Team and Affluent and Wealth Leadership team on execution / tracking of strategic projects driving the Affluent segment and the benefits thereof.
  • Work closely with the CFO of CPBB and Performance Management Head to develop the external Affluent story and key investor messaging
Processes

  • Work in conjunction with the CPBB Performance Management Head to run the Corporate Planning Process to incorporate strategic actions and investments across Affluent and Wealth in order to set Private, Priority and Premium targets across regions and countries to drive growth and returns
  • Support and drive insight across all Affluent business reviews, review all Affluent outlooks across countries and regions, and participate in Affluent investment forums
  • Oversee all processes as it relates to the Trust Business
  • Oversee all month-end closing processes for the Private Bank business, including group utilities and transfer pricing entries
  • Oversee the Private Bank individual RM target setting and performance analysis
People and Talent

  • To lead, inspire and motive the CPBB Finance teams ensuring that each individual team member achieves their potential and that the team together delivers its collective agenda
  • Lead the drive for up-tiering and upskilling the CPBB Finance teams in order to develop high performing teams for the future inspire and engage people
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all crucial functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks
  • Review team structure, capacity and plans
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
Risk Management

  • Coordinate regular review with Risk on Wealth lending portfolios to ensure appropriate risk-return pricing and capital deployment across all countries
  • Review Risk Weighted Asset (RWA) performance vis-à-vis balance sheet growth and total client returns for the Affluent segments across all countries
  • Ensure appropriate control framework for month-end closing processes working in conjunction with the CPBB Performance Management Head
Governance
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations to the role
  • Represent the Finance function at key CPBB Business forums and committees and escalating any issues that may impact finance responsibilities

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 10 + years relevant experience in business financial planning and analysis at a senior level gained at a leading, global financial services firm, preferably banking
  • Experience in business financial planning/Business partnering/business consulting role
  • Business or Financial analysis at a senior level in financial Industry, preferably banking or wealth management
  • Demonstrated track record of business partnering who can influence and effectively challenge C-suite stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of Wealth Management, Affluent, or broader banking industry and associated business challenges as a senior finance or strategy leader of a senior management team.
  • Proven problem solver using quantitative techniques, strong analytical skills with ability to develop proof of concept frameworks and business cases
  • Strong people leader with ability to lead and grow teams of international talent, with a proven ability to work across teams and influence a broad range of stakeholders
  • Academic degree from a well-recognized institution
