Financial Analyst - Accounting

Amazon seeks an experienced Financial Analyst to drive and participate in certain accounting activities in the APAC regional accounting team. This position will be responsible for proper and accurate accounting across business operations in the region. This team member is expected to actively and frequently engage with various stakeholders internally and externally across different geographies and time zones.
This position will also partner with the members of the global accounting organization to develop team-wide goals, process improvement initiatives, and assist in the identification of standards for global consistency. This role requires excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to senior leadership across geographies and time zones.

Responsibilities include:
• Annual financial statement preparation and leading audits across the region
• Monthly financial reporting and internal control assessments
• Continuously evaluate, document and work with regional and US Accounting teams to reach conclusions on the respective country accounting standards for business events
• Actively engaging with new business initiatives as needed within the region
• Identifying, articulating and communicating project and accounting operation risks to leadership, along with clear recommendations for resolution or mitigation
• Have direct responsibility and ownership in executing process improvement opportunities within newly established businesses, existing processes and controls

Basic Qualifications:
• Degree in accounting or related field
• CPA, Chartered Accountant or similar qualification
• 6+ years of relevant experience
• Strong interpersonal English written and oral communication skills
• Southeast Asia public or corporate accounting experience with multi-national corporations
• Experience developing or auditing financial statements
• Sound knowledge of local GAAP standards for a Southeast Asia geography, IFRS and/or US GAAP
• Working understanding of an Internal control framework (specifically COSO) and a solid understanding of the concepts of control design and operational efficiency

Preferred Qualifications:
• Understanding of process automation technologies like VBA, RPA, Alteryx, Python, SQL, and Wdesk
• Experience working in a US based public company with sales over $5 billion
• Operational accounting experience with a US based public company
• Experience working in a fast paced environment similar to a high tech start-up
• A demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex operational and accounting challenges
• Experience with documenting accounting conclusions related support across multiple country jurisdictions
• Excellent analytical skills
