Government Finance Business Partner

The Finance Business Partner position is an excellent opportunity for a confident and highly communicative finance professional. The role will liaise between the core finance function, and operational business, providing advice and support on financial issues and performance priorities during a period of transition.

The newly created Government Finance Business Partner function has been established to drive value for money across the department. This role will be instrumental in creating a commercial, delivery focused culture across finance and the broader department.

Description

Successful candidates will report to the Head of Finance Business Partnering, and will work provide insightful financial analysis to both the Financial Business Partners and the business unit in order to inform decision making. The key objectives in this role are to:

• Building in depth understanding of different business areas and performance priorities;

• Support Finance Business Partners and Director on financial matters; including the provision of analysis on budgets, forecasts and business cases;

• Review Business cases and making recommendations to Finance Business Partners.

• Support business units through the month-end and the budgeting and forecasting cycles;

• Provide analysis to support decision making and using bench-marking to highlight opportunities and add value

Profile

Essential:

• Understanding of Government structures and financial processes

• Understanding of business partnering, demonstrating emotional intelligence

• Ability to apply a range of investment appraisal techniques to assess the costs, benefits and risks of a range of delivery options;

• Working in partnership with key stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable:

• Full CCAB qualified accountant, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent finance experience.

• SC or above security clearance.

Job Offer

The successful Government Finance Business Partner will be based in the heart of UK Government, in City of Westminster. This position falls within IR35 legislation and will pay a competitive daily rate via either PAYE or Umbrella route of circa £250 - £350 depending on experience.
