The Compliance Audit Specialist will perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of the organization's compliance review function. This position collects and maintains compliance–related data or records, and reviews to ensure compliance with corporate control requirements and measures. The Compliance Audit Specialist plans and conducts audits and reviews, creates reports, presents findings and recommendations, and follows up on action plans implemented to address audit findings. This role will focus on addressing the audit and compliance needs of the organization, maintain up–to–date knowledge of regulations, guidance, and other requirements, for organizations accreditation needs.

Responsibilities
  • Performs and plans the audit fieldwork for the various internal and external audits
  • Prepares reports to adequately document audit work performed and audit findings
  • Develops and communicates recommendations to management that will improve operational processes found to be deficient.
  • Assists to ensure that compliance audit reports and activities inform management of:
    • Findings, as they relate to the adequacy of internal controls, procedures, policy, etc.
    • Effectiveness and efficiency of information system and operational controls
    • Management's responsibility for implementing recommendations to improve and strengthen compliance and operations
  • Ensures the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of requested reports and analysis, and develops plan of correction.
  • Coordinates with other departments to obtain data, educate, and provide feedback on results and process improvements
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Health Administration, Health Information Management, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare compliance, healthcare operations, and/or documentation auditing within the healthcare industry.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective listening skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to be an effective connector between the workforce and senior management
  • Strong analytical and problem–solving skills with an ability to assess situations and make accurate observations in the workplace
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and local regulations and policies pertaining healthcare operations
  • Ability to review company documentation to complete audits in a timely and proficient manner
  • Ability to complete work within a specified time frame
  • Ability to research various types of company documents to identify necessary information for specific audits
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Willing to travel up to 50% of the time (including out of state)
