Merkai Talent are recruiting for a permanent Finance Analyst based in Edinburgh paying £30,000 - £35,000 plus full study support.

The diversification has been absolutely crucial as whilst its traditional revenue lines are lower due to being impacted by the pandemic, it has signed several highly lucrative contracts to break into new markets and expand its global presence. Its traditional revenue lines are now returning rapidly creating a formidable proposition with the business exiting COVID a far leaner, efficient and more profitable business.
The Role
The position of Finance Analyst will be responsible for several sites across the UK from a month-end, management accountant and finance business partnering aspect. After the production of the monthly management accounts packs, the successful individual will be required to business partner with departmental Heads & Managers to discuss variances, trends and assist with strategic decisions to control costs & impact the bottom line. You will also play a significant part in contract renewals and tendering to ensure the financial and commercial viability.
Individual Profile
To be considered for this opportunity you must have strong month-end and management accounts experience – ideally for multiple sites, entities or P&L’s. Variance analysis, analytical and business partnering exposure would be advantageous but not essential as the employer and line manager are more than willing to invest time, money & resource into upskilling the successful individual.
An aspiring finance professional would fit best for this opportunity as it’s a business renowned for progression and career development with several internal routes available upon qualification. To be considered you must actively be studying a professional accountancy qualification – part qualified or finalist is the preference however, early stages will be considered.

You will be involved but not restricted to the following duties:
- Reporting to and deputising for the Commercial Finance Manager
- Production and presentation of monthly reporting packs
- Assisting with new contracts tenders and renewals – CAPEX, pricing, headcount costs etc.
- Finance business partnering with non-financial departmental Heads & Managers
- Variance analysis
- Financial analysis – trends, costs, margins, overheads etc.
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting
- Assisting with month-end close – accruals, journals, prepayments etc.
- Liaising with transactional finance – AP
- Adhoc duties
- Actively studying a professional accountancy qualification – ACCA/CIMA/ICAS
- Month-end and management accounts experience – multiple sites, entities or P&L’s experience is preferred
- Variance analysis, analytical and business partnering exposure would be advantageous
- Proficient user of Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
