Job Description:

The role

The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for providing end to end payroll accounting services encompassing full function payroll processing including general ledger reconciliations and reporting ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and accounting standards. This position reports through to the Payroll Manager and is a full time permanent position.

Specifically, your duties will include -
  • Process fortnightly and monthly pay cycles in a full function capacity (1500+ employees)
  • Payroll general ledger end to end reconciliations, including sign off from financial controller
  • Accountable for monthly labour expense and provide commentary on variance to target.
  • Provide labour costings data for forecasting and budgeting
  • Adhoc labour analysis
  • Monthly processing, reconciliation and payment of superannuation
  • Complete statutory reporting and payments in relation to specific Taxes for relevant country revenue offices (Australia, New Zealand and PNG)
  • Responsible for accurate and timely submission of Single Touch Payroll / Pay Day Filing
  • Managing varying payroll calculations in relation to terminations, redundancies, and entitlements
  • Support continuous improvement in the payroll function and participate in associated projects to streamline activities
  • Implementing Payroll system upgrades

About you

To be successful you will display -
  • 5+ Years Payroll Experience
  • Qualifications in accounting or a combination of relevant training and experience
  • Working knowledge of complex payroll operations (Aurion is preferable)
  • Strong understanding of legislation, taxation and superannuation as related to payroll processing activities
  • End to end Payroll general ledger processing
  • Financial Analysis
  • Customer focused, friendly and approachable and striving to identify areas for process improvement
  • Demonstrate high-level attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Microsoft office skills particularly Excel
