GiBe Finance are delighted to be working with a local government, recruiting a Pension Fund Accountant on a 3-6m interim contract.
The immediate focus will be to prepare the annual accounts, including all supporting notes, for a Local Government Pension Scheme Fund in accordance with CIPFA's LGPS example accounts and disclosure checklist guidance.
There are also a number of related improvements that the local government are keen to implement and the successful candidate will lead delivery of this work.
The Role

The Role
- Preparing and uploading all relevant year end accounting entries onto the Fund's internal general ledger (Unit 4 Business World) to produce a trial balance.
- Using a combination of reports for externally held investments, spreadsheets for internally held investments along with the internal ledger for all non-investment related income and expenditure, to produce the annual accounts and corresponding notes for the Fund as at 31st March 2021.
- Preparation of supporting working papers for audit.
- Liaising with key contacts below to collate all necessary information.
- Preparation of financial information for the Annual Report.
- Alongside the core work on closing the 2020/21 pension fund accounts there are a number of regular processes which need to be reviewed and streamlined to reduce the burden of year end work.
- Monthly accounting duties include regular monitoring of the bank account to allocate all income and expenditure entries, preparing journals for upload and producing cashflow forecasts.
- Preparing cashflow information for actuarial valuations for various employers throughout the year.
- Liaising with investment managers to monitor performance and to facilitate other investment decisions and activities, for e.g. transitions.
- Complete data collection returns to Local Government (annual) and ONS (quarterly).
