We are a fast paced, rapidly growing online retailer of consumer lifestyle products. The group has seen substantial growth over the past 12 months ($40 - $100M) and this is expected to continue. To support this growth the business is looking to expand its Finance team.

The Assistant Financial Analyst will play a key role supporting the commercial elements of the finance team providing reports, analysis and insights which helps the business to maximise their opportunity for growth. You will have excellent organisational skills and be a great team player, communicator, with the ability to work under pressure and self-motivate.

This is a very hands-on role, dealing with high volumes of data that will be used to develop with the business as it continues to grow. Here's what happened in your first year
  • You have supported the creation and development of internal budgets and forecasts (P&L, cash flow and balance sheet) for the group for 2021 and 2022, taking the lead on behalf of the Finance team on these reports for new acquisition partners.
  • Your efficiency and organisation have enabled you to hit the ground running and you are seen as a credible and reliable addition to the Finance team.
  • You have supported the development of the internal Finance function, you are seen as an effective and trusted resource within the Finance team.
  • You have analysed financial data and issues across the company in close liaison with department managers and helped to make dozens of financially better decisions.
  • You've partnered with departmental heads and the Finance Analyst to develop, maintain and feedback on departmental budgets.

What you'll do
  • Analysing financial data and close liaison with other members of the finance function and department managers to resolve issues and to optimize financial outcomes (for example product profitability and its levers).
    • In collaboration with the Financial Planning Analyst you will support the wider team with identified issues, conducting root cause analysis, and coaching on how to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with the managing of the product cost matrix and margin analysis.
  • You will help drive improvements in financial processes and controls, enabling data to be used in a meaningful way to support decision making and business processes;
    • Re-developing and streamlining existing business reporting tools and models.
  • You will be called upon to support the company audit process both internal and external as required.
  • You will help prepare the annual financial statements and provide financial information to external providers of tax and accountancy services where applicable.
  • Other Ad hoc duties as required and as defined together with the Financial Planning Analyst and Finance Director.


Requirements
  • AAT or ATT part qualified or full qualification, with a desire to undertake further studies (ACA, ACCA or CTA).
  • You have 2+ years experience in a small to medium sized accountancy practice.
  • NetSuite experience would be an advantage but not essential.
  • You are able to work autonomously conducting initial research on technical issues as well as part of a team.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, are articulate and can make key points clearly and succinctly using a variety of communication methods (reports, presentations, workshops).
  • You are commercially aware with an entrepreneurial mindset and "can do" attitude.
  • Experience working in a fast growth start-up or scale-up is extremely advantageous
  • A thorough understanding of cross cultural communications.
