Jenson Fisher is proud to be engaged on a retained basis by J&D Wilkie Ltd to recruit a Financial Accountant as a result of business growth.

A privately owned company, with textile manufacturing facilities in China and its head office based in Scotland, J&D Wilkie has over 140 years' worth of experience in their industry. Globally recognised, J&D Wilkie are seeking to appoint a commercially astute Financial Accountant to join the finance function and play a leading role in system and process development alongside the move into FP&A utilising analytics and data visualisation tools.

Wilkie have consistently been at the forefront of innovation in the technical textile sector and the Financial Accountant will have the ability to develop and drive forward positive change across the finance function to meet the strategic requirements of the company and help facilitate future growth.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant shall be responsible for a number of financial processes and be expected to take a leading role in the continued development of the company's ERP system and financial processes. In addition, a key part of the role is to develop the company's use of data analytics and visualisation tools. The company will provide access to training to help develop these skills, should this be required.

You will be a driven and ambitious individual looking to add value at every stage and you will desire to be operationally involved and focused on leading change in the organisation. In addition, you will be highly motivated with excellent attention to detail, possess outstanding organisational skills and be able to both express ideas and listen to others.

The Role - Financial Accountant

In a role which will be highly visible to the senior management team, your key duties will include:

  • Ownership and development of stock accounting processes.
  • Develop and improve standard costing systems and reporting.
  • Development of financial planning and analysis, including using data analytics and visualisation tools.
  • Nominal account reconciliation and reviews.
  • Developing the system of internal financial controls.
  • Weekly and monthly financial reporting and analysis of operations.
  • Budgeting and forecasting.
  • Develop the company ERP system to enhance data driven decision making.
  • Involvement in the annual audit and statutory accounts preparation.


The Person

As well as possessing the ability to develop into the duties above, the Financial Accountant will:

  • Be a fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with ideally a minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience - Essential.
  • Have previous experience working with ERP systems - Advantageous.
  • Possess excellent all round IT skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel - Essential.
  • Experience of, or a desire to learn, data visualisation tools and develop data analytics platforms - Essential.
