Temporary Tax Accountant

Carrollton, TX

Dates Needed: February 2021 – April 5, 2021

The TMX Finance?? Family of Companies is looking for a Temporary Tax Accountant to join our team and provide a high level of support for the Tax department. You will gain exposure to corporate tax accounting and use your diligent work ethic to prepare and document various tax forms for the organization.

As the situation evolves, changes may be made to our practices, in line with state and local mandates as well as CDC–guidelines.

Responsibilities

Prepare, file, and maintain multiple returns for several states and entities, including Sales & Use Tax, Property Tax returns, and annual corporate registration renewal statements.

Prepare required applications of new store set up with various local and state taxing authorities.

Stay abreast of multiple state laws for sales tax and compliance.

Prepare tax accruals, including franchise, documentary stamp and loan tax entities.

Reconcile personal property tax and federal income tax and tax depreciation in Oracle monthly.

Prepare the work papers for review for the Tax Fixed Asset Books and Leasehold Improvement Component Depreciation.

Partner with Tax Manager to collect and review apportionment for state income tax returns.

Participate in the quarterly escheatment process as directed by supervisor including researching applicable checks, preparing entry, and preparation of due diligence letters.

Assist in the preparation of financial information for Business License and Tax forms.

Work efficiently in a rapidly–changing and fast–paced environment and handle multiple challenging tasks with ease to meet individual and team performance standards.

Maintain strong working relationships across the organization and demonstrating the ability to establish cooperation.

Update job knowledge by participating in education opportunities, reading professional publications and maintaining personal networks.

Process all tax bills that are sent to Accounts Payable.

Complete Tax Department functional tasks such as scanning necessary documents to the Tax Drive, collect and organize all Tax Department mail, and maintaining the Tax Compliance calendar.

Assist Tax Accountant II and Tax Manager with any projects, as needed.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required from an accredited college or university
    • Minimum 1– 2 years of tax accounting experience
    • Minimum 2+ years of experience with sales and use tax
    • Previous Tax accounting experience needed (preferably for a multi–unit company)
    • Must have intermediate Excel Skills and be able to navigate Microsoft Office Suite
    • Must have written and oral communication skills
    • Working knowledge of income tax, fixed assets as they relate to personal property and tax depreciation
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Physical demands for this position frequently include: the ability to remain in a stationary position, move about freely inside and occasionally outside of the store, and the operation of mechanical controls, such as a keyboard


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Working knowledge of a Mid–sized Accounting Software a plus
    • Familiarity with the escheatment process
    • Experience with Oracle ERP, OneSource Property Tax Software
