Job role
Northamptonshire Police is responsible for policing the county of Northamptonshire, covering 914 square miles with a population of around 683,800 and is committed to 'Fighting Crime, Protecting People'. Officers and staff work with communities, partner organisations and behind the scenes to keep communities safe and bring offenders to justice. To provide an ANPR data Audit Service to Northamptonshire Police

Conduct audits to check compliance with the National ANPR standards for Policing and Law Enforcement.

Ensure that any breaches of compliance are identified and that remedial action is taken as directed by the ANPR Manager.


  • To undertake a planned audit programme of ANPR data to determine compliance with the National ANPR standards for Policing and Law Enforcement.
  • To audit enquiries performed by system operators and report on non-compliance.
  • To identify any errors, omissions, non-compliance and data quality errors or trends. Identify any training needs; recommend revised procedures and remedial action.
  • To provide advice and guidance relevant to the audits undertaken and enquiries relating to audits.
  • To produce an Audit Report and annual audit plan covering the required checks in compliance with NASPLE guidelines and present to the ANPR Manager for approval.
  • To perform any other duties relevant to the role as instructed by the line manager.

  • NOTE:

    The job description reflects the major tasks to be carried out by the post holder and identifies a level of responsibility at which the post holder will be required to work. In the interests of effective working any major tasks may be reviewed from time to time to reflect the changing needs and circumstances. Such reviews and other consequential changes will be carried out in consultation with the post holder. The post holder will also be required to carry out such other duties, as may be within the general scope of the post.

    * This post will have a notional base of Weston Favell Police Station it is an agile role and the post-holder may be required to work from a variety of force locations in order to perform the role.




    1. Good communication skills in order to obtain detailed information from a broad spectrum of individuals.

    2. Effective time management ensuring all deadlines are achieved.

    3. Competent in the use of computer systems and Microsoft Office Packages including the experience of handling volumes of data in spreadsheets.

    4. Excellent Numeric and Literacy skills commensurate to the role.

    5. Accuracy and attention to detail.

    6. Demonstrate by example the ability to work on your own initiative.

    7. Demonstrate by example experience of being a successful team worker.

    8. To hold a full current driving licence and be willing to work from any force premises as required.

    9. Be able to achieve force vetting requirements.

    10. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a level of awareness of equality and diversity issues appropriate to this role.


    1. Experience in ANPR technology and its use.

    2. Relevant experience in an audit/inspection role or some knowledge of audit requirements.
