Could you manage budgetary process and financial matters to enable effective decision-making at the executive level?


The British Red Cross is looking for a Business Finance Manager who will be the first point of contact for over 60 budget holders on all matters relating to budgets including Staffing, Operating Expenses and Capital Expenses.

What you will be doing
As a Business Finance Manager, you will ensure that the executive directors for HR and IT and their heads of departments have clarity on the approved financial framework and through financial planning, analysis and constructive challenge enable them to deliver within it.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning and Performance, you will deliver a professional finance support service to ensure that there is clear financial reporting to aid decision making and drive value for money whilst also ensuring there is a strong internal control environment within the HR and IT directorates.

With an operating expenditure budget of £24m+ and £8m+ capital expenditure budget, this is a key role providing a valuable contribution to the achievement of the directorates' strategic and financial objectives.

What we are looking for
You will be a qualified accountant (from a CCAB recognised body) with sound knowledge of accounting standards & practices (such as IFRS, Charities SORP, IAS 38, etc).

You will have strong financial control and accounting skills with the ability to plan and manage the finances of substantial projects and activities in both IT and non-IT areas such as HR & People functions.

You will have Senior Business Partner experience, having previously provided financial advice and support at both Executive Director level and to Programme Management Boards

You will have excellent multitasking and prioritisation skills with experience of managing the budgeting process in a large organisation, meeting month-end and tight reporting deadlines.

You will be highly computer literate with an advanced working knowledge of MS Office, and advanced Excel skills.
